Scrub images from any page without leaving the tab. Version 1.4.1.
Nothing is uploadedThe extension scrubs entirely on-device using the same engine as the browser Studio. It makes no network request to scrub a file — so it consumes no quota, needs no API key, and works offline.
Install
Download the extension, then:
- Unzip the archive.
- Open
chrome://extensions. - Turn on Developer mode (top right).
- Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder.
Works in any Chromium browser — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera.
Using it
Right-click any image and choose Scrub with PurifyAI, or open the toolbar popup to drop a file in directly. The cleaned file downloads with a _scrubbed suffix.
How it differs from the API
- Extension — on-device, no key, no quota, PNG and JPEG, one file at a time. Best for ad-hoc work.
- API — server-side, needs an Agency key, counts against quota, scriptable. Best for pipelines. See the quickstart.
Both share the same scrubbing engine, so a file cleaned either way comes out identical.
Permissions
The extension requests contextMenus, downloads, and access to the active tab only when you invoke it. There is no background page reading your browsing, and no host permission for any remote server — a scrub that never leaves the device does not need one.
Why it is not in the Chrome Web Store yetReview for extensions that touch page media is slow. Loading unpacked gives you the same build in the meantime; the changelog tracks store status.
